with Honesty, Integrity & Simplicity

Currently I am owned by 1 dogs: Skippy, an Italian Greyhound. The Shelties pictured are both passed away now: Patrick Ryan and Dani Joy.

I take a positive appDogs at Gridley June 2009roach to dog training that’s based on a deeper understanding of canine behavior. I’m here to help you communicate with your dog in order to stop bad habits and develop good behaviors. Group training sessions encourage socialization and success. Private lessons are also available for those unique sessions that require that one-on-one attention. Positive dog training techniques are used and yet, I make sure I have a “trainers tool box” full of ideas and time-tested techniques that will give you and your dog confidence.

I have owned a variety of dogs throughout my life including many Big Dogs, Small Dogs, Mixed Breeds, Coon Hounds, German Shepherds, Labs, Dobermans, Poodles, Hounds,Shetland Sheepdogs (Shelties) and an Italian Greyhound. I began training my own dogs in the mid 90’s and shortly thereafter became a trainer with the Nor Cal Dog Training Club and offering private lessons.

I have mentored under many of the best professional dog trainers in the Northern California region. For three years, I worked as the Certified Dog Trainer for Petco offering classes, seminars, and one-on-one private sessions. I now work as an independent contractor. I also offer classes in: AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Manners & Socialization, Basic Obedience/Family Manners, AKC/CGC, CGCA, CGCU Classes & Title Testing, AKC/Trick Dog Classes & Title Testing, Intermediate & Advanced Obedience, Agility for Fun, Rally Obedience, Flyball for Fun, and other fun classes. I often will have guest instructors and upcoming student apprentice dog trainers.DSCN7380_4x6

Four of my dogs have obtained the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizenships Award/Titles. My Chocolate Lab, Megan and both my Shelties, Patrick Ryan & Dani Joy have earned titles in the dog racing sport called Flyball. Patrick Ryan & Dani Joy have earned titles in AKC Competition Rally Obedience. Megan earned her Novice Obedience Title through ASCA. My Italian Greyhound has earned all his CGC Titles and his Trick Dog Titles up through Advanced. I have trained my dogs in obedience, rally obedience, agility, flyball, beginning tricks, clicker training, & beginning tracking.

I am a member of the APDT (Association of Professional Dog Trainers). I am an AKC/CGC Evaluator & Trainer. I am an AKC Trick Dog Evaluator. I graduated with honors and am a mentor for the Animal Behavior College. I continue my education and training experiences in a wide variety of classes, seminars and other learning opportunities.

How much do you charge? I have a pit bull I got when she was 6months or older. She is great with kids but most adults that come to visit she barks and sometimes tryes to bit them. She likes woman better than men. Help is it a lost cause?

    • Hi Michelle, most dogs are rarely a lost cause. My prices for private lessons begin at $55 per visit. The price could be more if your dog is extremely reactive, or if I have to travel out of the Redding/Anderson area. Please give me a call at (530) 356-8286 & we can see what may work for your situation.

When are your next set of training classes? Day, time and location?

Hi Kathy, I have a 15 week Klein poodle. I’m interested in taking her to classes. My problem is we live in Fall River Mills, east of Redding about 70 miles. Do you have any classes during the day that I might be able to take and what are there prices? I want to work towards the CGC etc. Thank you for any help you can give me. Cheryl Smith

    • Hi Cheryl,
Many apologies for not responding sooner to your questions. Even greater apology if you’ve been one of the unfortunate people I’ve neglected to return phone messages. Since the end of August, I have been without a training location. I am currently offering private lessons, one-on-one, in your home, or at an agreed upon location based upon your training needs.

Generally, private lessons begin at $55.00 per 1-hour session. Prices may be higher depending on if you’re are NOT in the general immediate Redding/Anderson area, or if you have multiple dogs, or dealing with some serious aggression/dog reactivity issues. Since you are located a hit further than I generally travel, perhaps if you are still interested we can meet somewhere sort of in the middle like Bella Vista or Palo Cedro.

Puppy and beginning Obedience/manners class are typical $95 for a total of 6 class sessions, generally 1-hour long.

Presently I am without a training location for classes. However, I do have something in the works & hope to announce class location, days, & time.

Thank you for visiting m website & for your interest.
